We always feel that we should
be thinner, taller, smarter, richer, younger.
We feel like we need to
do more, be more, give more.
We are told daily that we
are not good enough. That we
could buy this thing or take
this pill and we would be
better, stronger, faster, leaner, cooler-whatever.
We believe this. Everyday we hear
a litany of condemnation. It is
so hard to fight against it.
What if we believe we are
enough? What if we find the
words to drown out the screeching,
nagging voice telling us we are
less than. What if they’re wrong?
What if you are enough? What
if you are exactly as you
should be? What if you are
not striving to improve yourself because
you are guilty of not being
enough, but because it feels good
and makes you feel like more
than enough?
You are enough. I am enough.
Yes. And together we are everything.
